Air Conditioner Energy Efficiency!

Here at Super Service Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning we are on the job about keeping you cool and comfortable, especially during the sweltering heat that we’ve been getting through the summer. We’ve come up with some tips for you to help keep your home as cool as possible in these heavily humid months, and at the same time we’re working on helping you have a more energy efficient system without having to fork out money for a new unit. Here are some tips:

Don’t Let it Run on High – believe it or not, keeping your fan on high during heavily humid days doesn’t do a better job of keeping things cool; in fact, having the fan in your AC on high can actually increase the humidity. Why? Slow moving air allows the air conditioner to really circulate the air through its cooling vents, cooling it down and effectively taking out the moisture. So on high humidity days, set your AC on slow and reap the benefits.

Take a Cold Shower – It can significantly help your AC if you’re not in need of being cooled down on a severe level. Taking a cold shower not only relieves your discomfort, but it also relieves the pressure on your AC to be on a super low temperature all the time. You may be taking time out of your day, but it’ll be worth it when your energy bill comes in low because you didn’t have to be blasting the AC 24/7.
