1.       If your air conditioner has coils – you want to keep them as clean as possible. They can be either inside or outside, and you want to keep them free of debris, dust, and mold. This will help keep up your air conditioner’s efficiency. If you can’t easily access your AC coils, try to find an owner’s manual on how to clean them; you may need to call someone for assistance, but chances are you can do it on your own. Keeping these coils clean will up the life expectancy for your air conditioner and will improve the overall performance – it’s a win-win situation for a little bit of time.
2.       Keep it debris free. You want to keep up regular maintenance and cleaning on the outside of your AC unit. It comes into contact with a shocking amount of dirt, dust, and rust, so you want to ensure that you keep these things at bay. In keeping you AC debris free, keeping up maintenance with the coils (as mentioned above), vents, and any other part that can collect debris and dust will help your AC run faster and more effectively. You can wipe down or vacuum the outside units of your AC, but if it needs stronger chemicals you should call a professional (for the sheer fact that handling stronger chemicals could harm you and the AC if you don’t have proper training).
